Project Summary
Light House completed three technical research backgrounders and presented them to BC’s industry leaders as part of the provincial government’s development of a unified green building code for BC. The reports presented approaches that will inform the development of specific code provisions in area of materials and product selection as it pertains to emissions, off-gassing and overall indoor air quality, water efficiency and grey-water reuse. Each report included definitions; concepts and benefits; key issues to regulation development; overview of standards and rating systems; system types, designs and technologies, a review of current policies and regulations (largely from other jurisdictions) and an assessment of the potential for BC transferability. A series of industry consultation sessions were organized at which Light House staff presented findings and participated in discussions.
