Newgate Apartments is a 49-suite supportive housing project in Kelowna funded by BC Housing and operated by John Howard Society of the Central and South Okanagan. The building is designed to a high standard and uses 40% less energy than an equivalent building. Its wood-frame construction, using mostly local timber, reduces the building’s carbon footprint, and the construction team achieved 95.5% diversion of construction waste from landfills. Light House provided sustainable design recommendations and LEED project management services, achieving a LEED Gold Certification.
