Project Description
Henry Hudson Elementary School (AKA the Little Yellow Schoolhouse) was renovated and relocated by Renewal Development in 2023 and opened as a Learning Nest for Squamish children to be immersed in Sḵwxw̱ ú7mesh Sníchim (the Squamish language) in early 2024.
Light House was proud to nominate it as the winning project for the 2024 ZEIC Embodied Carbon Award in Commitment to Circularity.
Our comparative life cycle assessment shows that relocating the Little Yellow Schoolhouse saved nearly 10 tonnes of CO2e compared to building new. That’s the equivalent of powering two standard Canadian homes for an entire year.
